The School Board meets for Regular Meetings on the second and fourth Monday of each month, unless otherwise noted.  In accordance with Florida’s Sunshine Law, all meetings are open to the public, except Executive Sessions.

Types of Meetings

Regular Meetings and Workshops:

• Location: Regular Meetings are held in the Commission Chambers of the Lake County Administration Bldg., 315 W. Main St. Workshops are held at the discretion of the Superintendent and Chairman in the Board Room of the Lake County School District, 201 West Burleigh Boulevard, Tavares, Florida.

• Live Streaming: Workshops are streamed live on the School Board's YouTube Channel at the link above. Regular Meetings are streamed live from the Lake County Board of County Commissioners at the link above.

• Workshops: No formal action is taken.

• Open to the Public: Regular Meetings and Workshops are open to the public.

Special Meetings:

• Discretion: Held at the discretion of the Superintendent and School Board.

• Location: Typically at the Lake County School District, 201 West Burleigh Blvd. or Commission Chambers of the Lake County Administration Bldg., 315 W. Main St., Tavares, FL.

• Live Streaming: Special Meetings are streamed live through the link above.

• Formal Action: Formal action is taken during these meetings.

• Open to the Public: Special Meetings are open to the public.

Public Hearings:

• Purpose: Allows for public participation before the School Board takes formal action.

• Open to the Public: Public hearings are open to the public.

Executive Sessions for Collective Bargaining, Litigation or Safety and Security:

• Discretion: As needed by Superintendent or School Board Attorney

• Location: Typically at the Lake County School District, 201 West Burleigh Blvd. or Commission Chambers of the Lake County Administration Bldg., 315 W. Main St., Tavares, FL

• Open to the Public: All Executive Sessions are closed meetings and are not open to the public.

Meeting Notices:

• Publication: Notices are published on the District website at Legal Advertisement and Public Notice

• Posting: Notices are posted in the lobby of the Lake County School District Office, 201 West Burleigh Boulevard, Tavares, Florida and located on the District website calendar: Meeting Schedule and Minutes Page

Viewing Agendas:

• BoardDocs Tab: View meeting agendas.

• Meeting Information: The site provides links to meeting videos and all pertinent agenda items.

Public Participation:

• Addressing the Board: Fill out a public input card located at the entrance to the Board meeting room and turn it into the Clerk to the Board before the start of the Workshop or Meeting.

• Speaking Time: Each speaker will be given 3 minutes to address the Board at the beginning of the Meeting or Workshop.
